Today, (our son’s) class was first up for the Christmas concert. As the audience and stage fell silent, he called out, “I can’t see my Mom”…… (crowd laughter)….. “I can’t see my mom for all of these people”….. (more laughter)…. “Oh, (big smile), there’s my mom”. Top 5 parenting moment.

3 years ago, I told our family doctor that I was pretty sure I could leave the house and he wouldn’t notice until the fridge was empty. Today, he searched a crowd of 200 people for me. My heart swelled.
The first person I wanted to tell was my husband. The second person I wanted to tell was you.

I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to another year of watching him grow with you.”

My daughter is a busy kid. When we first met with Penny and Mandy she was 4 years old, had just started Senior Kindergarten, and was unable to sit still for more than a few minutes.

Kate was unable to learn the “popcorn” words in Junior Kindergarten and Senior kindergarten was continuing in the same direction. She didn’t want to go school, at four she was saying “I hate school”, it was a struggle to get her out the door every morning.

We took her to the optometrist to have her eyes examined, thinking maybe she couldn’t see, that was when we heard about Mandy and Penny’s program. (Her eyesight was perfect!)

Mandy and Penny were introduced to Kate and quickly discovered why Kate was where she was at with school. After a year of bi-weekly appointments/sessions with Mandy and Penny, and some meetings at school Kate was able to start reading and to sit for 15 20 minutes in class (not perfectly still and sometimes with her feet above her head, but she was trying).

Kate goes to a great school, with great teachers who give her so much wonderful information.

Mandy and Penny gave Kate the TOOLS to be able to LEARN and PROCESS the information the teachers give her. Kate no longer
“hates” school, she still says she “doesn’t like school” but she goes everyday with a smile on her face and she does well.

Mandy and Penny changed Kate’s life and mine too. Forever grateful to these amazing women.[/x_text][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section][x_section style=”margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” bg_color=”” style=”margin: 0px auto 0px auto; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_column bg_color=”” type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_feature_box title=”You brought that wall down a little at at time with your encouraging words” title_color=”” text=”The time Grayson spent at the clinic is an experience we will always cherish. You and Doug and the Optimize Team made the treatment a success. But it wasn’t just the treatment that helped Grayson. You remember the wall Grayson had up when he started the program? You brought that wall down a little at at time with your encouraging words, a smile and your genuine caring attitude as well as the jokes and laughter you shared before and after each treatment.

The Optimize Clinic is a warm and friendly environment and that helped Grayson to relax and allow the treatment(s) to work.

Penny, you and the Optimize clinic will always be in my heart.

* A Valentine’s story of a HEART’s journey *

Beginning of the story:

A young, 3 yr old nonverbal child, with some additional developmental issues, started coming to see Penny while waiting for an Autism Screen appointment at CPRI, that was a few months away.

Middle:

The formerly nonverbal child gets “shushed” when he runs through the clinic’s front door and yells “Where’s Penny?! This is Penny’s house!”, wearing a great big smile. Not the end, but a new beginning.

Finally:

The CPRI appointment was today. The first call his mom made after leaving the assessment was to us, to say her child is developing completely normally. He no longer fits the criteria. He is now on the path meant for him.

Here is the note that came with a bouquet of flowers this morning:

“Happy Valentine’s Day to every heart on their journey.”[/x_text][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section]
